Rwanda Misozi Kopakaki A
This grade A coffee is the result of two coops joining forces to bring the best coffee possible to market. Mild, balanced and sweet, it's got notes of tangerine, rhubarb and a dash of lime.
Arrival Date: November 3rd, 2017
Acidity & Brightness: Moderate to Crisp Acidity
Balance & Finish: Delicate with clean dry finish
Body & Texture: Medium body with a silky texture
Flavors: Tangerine, rhubarb and lime
Certifications: Fair Trade
Processing: Fully Washed
Roasting: We like this coffee right around Full City (medium) in order to maintain the delicate body and light, sweet flavors. It roasts very evenly and you can take it darker if you wish for a bit more body and to tone down the brightness, but avoid roasts darker than Full City + (Medium-Dark)
Recommendation: Perfect for an after-lunch coffee, iced or hot.
Reminder! This coffee is raw, you must roast it before brewing
Our Review: Misozi Kopakaki is grown in the Karongi District of western Rwanda by over 800 small farmers. The farmers in this area, in an effort create the best coffee possible, have pooled their coffee, resources and knowledge together by forming a cooperative they called Kopakaki. After forming their coop, they joined a group of coops called Misozi to aid in the final processing and exportation of their coffee. The Misozi and Kopakaki coops are proudly certified Fair Trade to guarantee transparency and fairness throughout their growing community
In recent years we've been continually impressed with the coffee coming out of Rwanda. We've come to expect more and more from their coffee and we haven't been let down yet. Very balanced and incredibly drinkable, this coffee's got a slightly dry finish and a moderate to crisp front end and silky body. We noted tangerine, rhubarb and a touch of lime. A bit less delicate that past Rwandan offerings, this coffee has a bit more "oomph" but still retains a gentle character.
