Our Review: El Coyequal is a village that meets several famous producing areas from Huehuetenango in every direction. Its enclosed by Todos Santos, Rio Ocho and La Democracia. The village itself has a small population of only about 500 people, and the producing area is estimated to be about 100 planted hectares of varying degrees of productivity.
Coffee from Huehuetenango is popular for a reason, it's usually rich, full-bodied and creamy with a balance of sweetness and bite that appeals to most everyone. This coffee is no exception! Like many of the better Huehuetenangos we've seen this season, it's a bit smoother and less "bitey" but it still has plenty of body and orange notes that we really thought made the whole cup just right. Also expect more stone fruit sweetness and a bit less chocolate tones, though we enjoyed this cup so much we found we really appreciated the change! Grind this one up in the morning and before the coffee even starts brewing, your mouth will be watering.
