The Captain's Coffee is dedicated to spreading the joy of home coffee roasting. It's too good and too easy to keep it a secret. We won't sell a coffee that we don't personally drink and enjoy. We continually cup samples from a variety of sources to select and offer you what we think are the finest green coffees available. We will expand our offerings only when we encounter what is, in our opinion, an exceptional coffee. We hope you enjoy the coffee and home coffee roasting as much as we do.
If you are unsatisfied with your green coffee purchase, we will issue you a refund in the form of an in-store credit. Since coffee is a food item, we can't take it back once it leaves our control. We will work closely with you to insure you get the quality you expected at a price that is fair. This offer is good for 30 days from the date of shipment.
We will faithfully adhere to this policy for every customer, unless that customer is repeatedly abusing it. We withold the right to deny refunds, in rare cases, where a customer is repeatedly ordering coffee and then asking for a refund.
Note that Hawaii Department of Agriculture regulations won't allow us to ship raw coffee to Hawaii.
The Fresh Roast Plus 8, Gene Cafe, Behmor 1600 and the Hearthware iRoast are covered by a 1 year warranty from the manufacturer. The Fresh Roast Plus 8 roasting chamber is warranted for 6 months. Since the roasters are UL certified, the manufacturers ask that we refer all warranty issues directly to them. Although we do not directly provide repair service, we'll help you through the process to get your roaster back up and running. Should you return an unused roaster to us, we will refund your purchase minus the original shipping cost. Once you've used your roaster, we really can't take it back.
Any item not covered by a manufacturer's warranty is warranted by The Captain's Coffee to meet or exceed your expectations. If you are dissatisfied with your purchase for any reason, you may return the item to The Captain's Coffee for a replacement or refund in the form of an in-store credit. This offer is good for 30 days from the date of shipment. If applicable, the manufacturer's warranty will supersede this warranty for items sold by The Captain's Coffee.

Our web site correctly computes food tax (2% for green coffee) and sales tax (6.75% for everything else) for NC residents. You are welcome to call in your order, but you do not need to if you prefer using the web site.
We charge tax for orders with a billing address in North Carolina only.
It happens all the time. You put your coffee order in, click on the "confirm order" button and right at that instant realize that you forgot to order something else. Oh, well, you don't want to pay an extra shipping charge (although our subsidized shipping is VERY reasonable) so you just let it go.
This way you get ALL the stuff you originally wanted without paying an unnecessary shipping charge. Works for us—how's that sound to you?
Oh—one more thing—if the additional stuff you added won't fit in the original shipping method you selected (Priority Mail Flat Rate Box comes to mind) or puts you in a higher weight class for our flat rate shipping than your orignal order, we'll just give you a call and discuss the options and work it out. Pretty simple.

We are located at 1031 East Mountain Street, Building 309, Suite 101 in Kernersville, North Carolina. This is part of the old Reynolds Tobacco Company warehouse complex that is now a business park (across from Colfax Furniture). We are really just a warehouse where we pack and ship orders. We don't have a "store" where you can browse merchandise. Everything we have is posted and described on the website.
Since we are primarily an internet business, we do not keep regular store hours. We are there when we have work to do, and when we finish, we leave. If you "drop by" and we are not expecting you or don't recognize you, we probably won't open the door for security reasons. So call us first--partly to save yourself the trip if we've finished and left for the day, and partly so we know to expect you and to be on our good behavior. Our web store is open 24/7 unless we are going to be away for an extended period and then it will be closed for shopping until we return.
You are welcome to come by and pick up your order, but here's the drill:
1. Please place your order through the web site before you come to pick it up. Choose the "I will pick up my order" shipping option, and call to coordinate a pick up time. We can be reached at 877-505-4083 or 336-624-1428 or email
Order pick up is by appointment only. We are simply not set up for over the counter sales.
2. Don't plan on coming by and "browsing". We have an office area up front where we will meet you and give your your order, but the back is still a warehouse with plenty of things to trip over or bump in to, so we won't allow you back in that area. And frankly, it's just a lot of burlap bags and buckets and cardboard boxes so you really haven't missed a whole lot!
3. Finally, please be prompt. If we agree on 11am and you aren't there, at 11:01 we may be gone. If you don't come by at the agreed upon time, and we can't wait, we will attempt to contact you. If we can't, then we will cancel your order and issue you a refund. Just be on time and everything will be fine. And as far as packaging for pick up orders--expect a recycled Food Lion bag or a used shipping box. Those new cardboard boxes we normally ship in are outrageously expensive. Using recycled bags and boxes helps keep our costs down.
4. As we said, we don't keep regular hours. Your best chance to catch us is between 10am and noon weekdays. We rarely work Saturdays and almost never on Sundays.
